MEET JOSEPH

A LEADER WHO TRULY CARES ABOUT THE CLASS OF 2017

Reverend Joseph K. Bannerman (I-AL) is an ordained minister and the youngest African-American from Birmingham, Alabama to ever run for president. He attends Ramsay High School, where he takes classes as part of the International Baccalaurate (IB) program. Joseph Bannerman's extracurricular activities include: work; Ramsay Student Government Organization, where he is Junior Representative; Concert Choir; Varsity Academic Bowl, of which he is Captain; Heritage Panel, which he is president over; Rifle Team (JROTC); and Book Club. He is also the founder and president of the Bayard Rustin Alliance, the second of its kind in Alabama. His numerous awards include: MVP (Academic Bowl); 2nd Place Oratorical Competition; All-Star Academic Bowl Team; Highest Scorer; and All-A Honor Roll, just to name a few. His leadership is evidenced in the fact that he lead the first African-American team to the National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT) National Tournament. Previously, he lead them to  a 3-1 record in the 2015 Alabama Scholastic Competition Association (ASCA) District Tournament, and led them to their first ever Regionals Tournament. Mr. Bannerman has competed in numerous academic and oratorical competitions, and his leadership experience is derived from both his tenure as President of three organizations and Junior Representative in Ramsay's Student Government Association.
